New York

Greg Holmes is the Director of the New York office at 1789 Investigations Group, bringing with him a wealth of experience from a distinguished 25-year career in federal law enforcement. Known for his leadership, managerial expertise, and operational proficiency, Greg has built a career focused on complex investigations, physical security, executive protection, and crisis management.

Greg’s career with the United States Marshals Service (USMS) began in 1996 and spanned over two decades, during which he held several key positions. As a Supervisory Inspector for the Long Island Division of the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, Greg managed all operational and administrative functions for a team of 20 personnel, covering both Nassau and Suffolk Counties. He was instrumental in developing new policies and procedures that significantly boosted the task force’s productivity. Under his leadership, the task force saw a 25% increase in state and local law enforcement participation, and productivity surged by 50%, 25%, and 15% in his first three years.

Before his tenure in Long Island, Greg served as Supervisory Inspector for the New York City Division, overseeing five investigative teams comprising 60 personnel. He was responsible for strategically deploying resources, managing high-profile critical incidents, and liaising with executive staff from federal, state, and local law enforcement partners. His financial acumen was evident in his oversight of multiple budgets exceeding one million dollars, where he successfully optimized the allocation of funds.

Greg’s experience extends to the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), where he served as Senior Inspector. In this role, he was the USMS point of contact for high-priority fugitive investigations, targeting and dismantling illicit financial networks. His ability to forge strong relationships with international, federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies was a key factor in his success.

Earlier in his career, Greg played a pivotal role in establishing the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, a multi-state initiative aimed at apprehending violent fugitives. His leadership as a team leader in this task force led to the apprehension of over 1,000 violent felony fugitives, including three from the US Marshals Service’s Top 15 Most Wanted list. Greg’s expertise in interview and interrogation, as well as his use of physical, financial, telephonic, and social media surveillance, made him an invaluable asset to the USMS.

Greg’s dedication to public service extended beyond law enforcement. He led a team of first responders to Hurricane Katrina, where he was responsible for planning and delivering recovery and crisis management solutions in Biloxi, Mississippi. He also represented the USMS on various media projects, including the A&E television series Manhunters, Fox’s America’s Most Wanted, and multiple news outlets such as CNN, showcasing the mission of the Regional Fugitive Task Force.

In 2022, Greg founded Holmes Investigative and Security Solutions, a private investigative firm in New York. As President, he provided comprehensive investigative and security services, including criminal, civil, and defense matters, executive protection, and surveillance. His firm became known for handling high-profile, time-sensitive, and confidential investigations.

Greg holds a U.S. Government Top Secret SCI clearance, reflecting his deep commitment to national security. Today, as the Director of the New York office at 1789 Investigations Group, Greg continues to apply his extensive experience and leadership to serve clients with the same dedication and excellence that defined his federal law enforcement career.
